In addition to generating accurate dimension data the Tricolops RapidSize can capture images that simplify the job of revenue collection. The package dimensioner can be configured to draw the cuboid around the dimensioned package, and also to add the physical dimensions to that image. This image, all available from the dimensioner when measuring a parcel, is the perfect tool for your revenue protection department.

Pinesoft Parcel Dimensioner Deployments
We have deployed many instances of these parcel dimensioners over the years that we have been the UK distributer for them.
Conveyor Belt Parcel Dimensioner
Deployments have taken place over conveyor belts, where they perform flawlessly and cost a tiny fraction of the cost of other high speed dimensioning platforms. Setup is fast and easy and the stability of the resulting solutions are excellent. We have not noticed any degradation in dimensioning accuracy or ability of the device to represent the parcel as a cuboid.
Manual Workstation Parcel Dimensioning
Pinesoft have deployed Tricolops Parcel Dimensioners into a large number of manual workstations over the last two years. They are cheap enough to cost justify on a manual workstation, and provide the highest quality fo revenue protection images that we have seen.
PostID Integration
Pinesoft’s PostId No Code Toolkit supports a number of dimensioning solutions. The Tricolops parcel dimensioner is one of them.
Here we see a solution running in the PostID No-Code development platform with the Dimensioner SubProcessor open.

The dimensioner and it’s behaviour can be set without writing any code here. Other processors pass inputs (events) to the Tricolops Dimensioner and it in turn passes events with data to other processors. These connections between outputs and inputs are the coloured lines that pass between the various features of each processor.
In this way entire scaleable robust business solutions can be built quickly and without writing software.
Future Developments
The Tricolops RapidSize is currently being adapted to read 1D barcodes directly from a high resolution camera mounted alongside the dimensioner itself. This will allow the generation of even faster process automation solutions. An operator can merely place a package onto the scales, and when the scales report that the weight is stable all data can be automatically aquired without the operator having to pick up a barcode scanner.
2D barcodes, including QR code reading, are also in the development plan. Watch this space…
